journey today takes you through the towns lining
Turkey’s scenic Aegean coast to ancient Pergamum,
the city once ruled by Alexander the Great. Here you
can visit the world’s first health complex, the

visit Sardis, once the wealthiest city in the ancient
world, with its vast Temple of Artemis, ancient

highlights include the city-state of Ephesus, the most
extensive ancient city ever uncovered, where you can

Aegean coast around Dalyan is fringed with crystal-clear

its acropolis, and distinctive, ornate Lycian tombs
carved high into stone hillsides and cliffs. Later,

a short drive from Kalkan, Kas is surrounded by Lycian
rock tombs stacked on a vertical cliff face, as well

idyllic Kale with its atmospheric ruined castle and

world as Myra. Demre is celebrated as the birthplace
of St. Nicholas, renowned throughout the world as
Santa Claus. Here you can visit the 11th century
Basilica of St. Nicholas. The city is also surrounded
by 4th century Lycian tombs, carved into rocky hills,
as well as a vast Roman theater built directly into a
sheer cliff. Later, you will embark for Antalya on the
shores of the Mediterranean, where tempting beaches
crooked narrow streets, and a harbor set off by walls
2000 years old make the town a delight to explore.

is famed for its Roman theater, widely considered the
best preserved in the world, where even the names of
spectators are still visible, carved into the backs of

home to ruins that testify to the city’s importance
